Board of Directors

Clúid Housing Association is managed by a full time staff  who report to the Chief Executive; Brian O’ Gorman. The Chief Executive reports to a voluntary Board of Directors.

The purpose of the Board is to direct the Association’s affairs. The Board decide upon the policy of the Association and the direction it may take. The day to day management of the Association is delegated to the Chief Executive and his team. The officers provide reports which inform the decisions of the Board. The Board regularly reviews progress on the strategic plan.

image001Chair: David Burke

David Burke works as programme manager with Pobal who manage social inclusion programmes on behalf of government. Prior to his current role David had almost twenty years experience of working with a number of housing and homelessness based organisations in both Ireland and the UK where he completed post-graduate studies in housing. He worked with Focus Ireland and was a member of the boards of the Irish Council for Social Housing and the Disability Federation of Ireland.

Lorraine is a non executive director and works as Clúid’s in-house solicitor. She has extensive property experience. She has acted on behalf of both Developers and Purchasers.

Penelope is a Chartered Accountant and Financial Controller; her experience is primarily in financial services. A specialist in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley legislation she provides advice on Risk management and SOX 404.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, Penelope was a Council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants - the governing and strategy body for all Irish Chartered accountants. She has been a Director of the Institute of Accounting Technicians. Chairman of the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants; and is a Member of the Economic and Social Research Institute.

Cormac is a Chartered Surveyor and is Head of Group Property with Easons. He has broad property experience having worked with CB Richard Ellis as Executive Director and Head of their retail team. Prior to that he worked with Tesco as a property manager having started his career in Jones Lang La Salle. He was also chairman and board member of Clann Housing Association which merged with Clúid.

Martin Farrelly is a Senior Human Resource practitioner who has worked in senior HR roles in a variety of industry sectors. He has consulted and lectured internationally and was European partner for global Human Resource Competency Study run by the University of Michigan and the RBL Group. He is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.

Maura is a Director of Connolly Mescall, Chartered Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers. She is a Fellow of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Maura has a broad experience of the construction and development industry in both the public and private sectors, with over 20 years experience across all sectors of the industry including urban renewal and residential. Maura has a keen interest and involvement in social issues and has sat previously on the property committee of The Society of St. Vincent De Paul.

Derek Mc CabeDerek Mc Cabe

Derek Mc Cabe is a Civil Engineer and Director of Sheelin & Mc Cabe Planning Services Ltd which provides residential and commercial design and planning services. He is also a non-executive Director with Extern Northern Ireland and Extern Ireland.

He is also Director of CO2 Footprint Ltd  and project manages the web site  www.CO2.ie that provides CO2 Footprint Reduction advice to the business sector and provides a Green Directory and an e-commerce Booking Engine for Building Energy Rating Nationwide.

He is also a founding member, Chairman and director, of  Cavan Monaghan Rural Development Co-op Society Ltd,  which has successfully delivered three European Leader programmes, a number of Peace I & Peace II programmes and a Rural Social Scheme in Cavan and Monaghan since 1991.

He is a Commissioner for Oaths and Peace Commissioner since 1995. Derek has farming and forestry interests and is the recipient of the 2009 Nuffield Farming Scholarship and is a member of the review of  Decisions Panel with the Department of Agriculture in Northern Ireland.

chriswhiteChris White

Chris is Chief Executive of Boardmatch Ireland. He is a graduate of both Surrey University and Queen's University Belfast. He has extensive experience of the Voluntary Sector both in Ireland and Britain. He was the Chief Executive of the Sue Ryder Foundation which is the largest voluntary housing association in the State delivering housing to the Elderly. Prior to that he was the Head of Development with the Irish Council for Social Housing, the national federation of housing association in Ireland. Chris is a voluntary director of Mullingar Housing Association which provides accommodation for people with an intellectual disability, and Elsa Security which is a community security company in Darndale, North Dublin.

Fiona BarronFiona Barron

Fiona Barron is chief executive of the Irish Property & Facility Management Association (IPFMA). She has a background in property management and was Director of O Dwyer Property Management (ODPM) until 2001. She then set up and developed her own successful retail business which she sold in 2006 and worked in business management and development in the property support industry prior to her appointment as CE to IPFMA. Originally from Co Limerick, she holds an MBA from Smurfit Business School and is property qualified having graduated from DIT Bolton St.

Peter FullamPeter Fullam

Peter Fullam is a professional accountant (Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants ) and has had extensive general management and financial management experience.
He has acted at board level in public and private companies in Ireland and overseas with a variety of major international groups (AT&T, Diageo, Irish Life) as well as a director of a number of private companies, particularly new ventures.
 

Deirdre O'Connordeirdreoconnor

Deirdre is a Chartered Town Planner and is a Director of O'Connor Whelan, Planning Consultants. She is a corporate member of the Irish Planning Institute and a Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Deirdre has over 16 years experience in the construction sector and is involved in a broad range of planning and development functions, including advocacy, negotiation and advice in relation to planning matters in both the public and private sector. She has also been involved in assisting Local Authorities in the preparation of Development Plans and Local Area Plans and is a specialist in retail planning, providing support to a number of retailers.
