Minister Gormley turns sod on Emerald site

Cluid Housing Association & The Emerald Co-Operative in partnership with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd started on site with the Emerald Eco Project, Ballymun on the 7th September last.

The Emerald Project is a social & affordable scheme of 37 dwellings and a Communal Facility designed as truly sustainably housing development. The Project when completed will be one of the most energy efficient housing developments in Ireland.

Some of the main features of the project include Zero Carbon Emissions, PV, On Site Wastewater Recovery, Solar Panels, Rainwater Harvesting, Green Roofs and a Building Management System. The Project Design Team is Solearth Ecological Architects, Gardiner & Theobald Quantity Surveyors, Molone O’Regan Consulting Engineers and Energy 365 Mechanical & Electrical Engineers.

The main contractor is P.Elliott & Co Ltd. In July 2009 as part of the Department of the Environments announcement of the next generation of Low Carbon Homes, Minister John Gormley T.D, Minister for the Environment, Heritage & Local Government turned the sod on the Emerald Project.
