31 unsold affordable homes in Carlow Town, Leighlinbridge, Rathvilly and Tullow are due to be leased to Clúid later this month to provide much need homes to people on the local housing waiting lists.
The social housing leasing initiative was introduced by Government last year. The scheme allows local authorities to house people on waiting lists in unsold affordable homes by leasing them to housing associations for five years.
The new tenants all have an option to purchase the houses at the end of the five year lease. The houses leased under the Carlow scheme are all new, good quality family homes in good locations within easy walking distance of local shops and services.
Clúid continues to work in close partnership with government and local authorities to find new and innovative approaches to meet housing need.
