Rent is due weekly and is payable in advance. Rent is always due on Thursday.
The minimum rent for a household is €10. The maximum rent is €75 (or €125 where there are several earners in the family). For information on the rent calculation, check your tenant handbook or view the Tenant Handbook here.
There are several ways you can pay your rent:
- Standing Order set up from your bank account. You can download a standing order mandate form for your bank here (MS Word Document, 29Kb). Make sure to fill in your rent account number under ‘payment account reference no/narrative’ and ask your bank to include this reference with every transaction. Remember with a standing order you must have enough money in the bank. Even if you are a few cents short on the day the deduction is made, the bank will not pay and you will accumulate rent arrears. Some banks may charge a small fee for this service.
- Household Budget. The scheme is operated by An Post and open to people receiving certain social welfare payments. Your rent is taken directly from your social welfare payment each week. Download the Household Budget application form (from the An Post website), fill it in and send it to the Rents Officer in Clúid’s Finance Department.
- Electronic transfer using banking online – make sure that the reference is your tenant account number.
- Post Office Swipe card, known as Billpay. This can be used at the post office.

If you have missed rent payments talk to your Housing Officer as soon as possible. Don’t ignore rent arrears or any other debts you may have – they don’t go away. If you are having money worries contact your local Money Advice & Budgeting Service (MABS), who offer free and confidential advice. MABS also have a printable budget sheet on their website which can assist you with getting an overall picture of your finances. Download the budget sheet here (from the MABS website).
Clúid takes any failure to pay rent very seriously.
