Before Cluid Regeneration Project work began

St Patricks Estate Ballina has been one of the bigger regeneration projects on Cluid West’s books.
In January 2009, €12.9million was allocated to fund the regeneration of St Patricks Estate by the Minister of State with responsibility for housing. J.J Rhattigan was appointed contractor and construction began in earnest a year later in January 2010.

The Housing Officer for the estate is Kathleen Aspell Mortimer. A very successful pre-tenancy course allowed for the residents and housing management team to get to know each other before the handovers. This is indicative of the spirit of community which is being nurtured in St. Patricks.

It was always Cluid’s intention for this project to be open to a varied range of residents, with allocation policies taking into account 2 bed bungalows for the elderly, homes for single parents, properties for those with families but also for those young couples hoping to start new families here in future. It has always been important that this diversity of community be reflected throughout the entire estate.

Phase one of the project was handed over in October 2010. July and August have been busy months, organising the handing over of phases two and three to new and existing tenants. Phases three and four are due to be finished by the end of the year and consist of completed final homes as well as ancillary works such as the green areas, road and footpaths which will mark the successful conclusion of the rejuvenation of St. Patricks Estate, Ballina.
