Vizes Court on St Joseph’s Street, Limerick hosted a Victory Lunch / Christmas Party on 5th December last to celebrate the Limerick Hurling Team’s historic win over Galway in the All Ireland Hurling Championship in the summer.
The Liam McCarthy Cup was the guest of honour at the celebration which welcomed Clúid residents from four Sheltered Housing Schemes at Vizes Court, Colivet Court in Limerick, Lilac Close and Liosan Court in Newcastlewest. Vizes Court was decorated in the county’s green and white colours to mark the occasion.
Housing Officer with Clúid Sue Rowley said: “Clúid Housing are proud to welcome the Liam McCarthy Cup to Vizes Court. It is an absolute honour to acknowledge this amazing achievement after 45 years and a wonderful opportunity for so many of our residents to get together to celebrate this historic occasion, and to lift the Liam McCarthy Cup”.
A lively Christmas party with musician Patsy O’Connell followed the lunch, which was arranged by Mary O’Hehir of the Limerick Social Service Council, with food supplied by Southill Area Centre Food. Sincere thanks to Vizes Court Residents Rita Maher and Ann Broderick for their assistance in organising this hugely successful event.
