Mortgage-to-Rent is a scheme that aims to help some people who have serious mortgage difficulties and are unlikely ever to make full repayments on their mortgage in the future. It involves the borrower’s property being sold to a housing association, so that they continue to stay in their home, but as a housing association tenant paying an affordable rent rather than as an owner occupier with an unaffordable mortgage.
Although it is not a panacea, it can dramatically transform the lives of a small proportion of people in desperate need. Click here to read about some of the families we have worked with recently.
Clúid Housing now has over 100 Mortgage-to-Rent properties in management.
Gemma and Eibhlin are two dedicated Clúid workers who are helping families through the process of the Mortgage-to-Rent scheme. They see the reality of the stress and misery that people experience.
