Clúid partners with Reloop to help residents save money by reducing consumption and waste with free lending and recycling services
Clúid, Ireland’s leading Approved Housing Body (AHB), has established a new partnership with Reloop, an organisation that empowers communities to reduce consumption and waste through innovative digital circular amenities, aligning with Clúid’s Greening Strategy “Building a Sustainable Future Together”. Clúid’s strategy is based around three key pillars: Build Green, Live Green, and Be Green. Together these pillars address our key environmental risks and opportunities and the issues that matter most.
Reloop, established in 2024, works with residents to provide impactful circular economy solutions focused on reducing consumption and reuse while increasing resident retention and satisfaction. The organisation currently operates across sites throughout Dublin with a 94% 5-star resident satisfaction rating.
This innovative initiative with Reloop will give the residents that are involved in the pilot in Clúid managed communities access to a seamless digital booking platform that offers:
• A Lending Library – providing residents with free access to high-quality household products they only need occasionally, such as steam cleaners and power washers. The concept is based on a shift from product ownership to product access, reducing unnecessary purchases while supporting affordability and enabling more sustainable living.
• E-Waste and Clothing & Textile Reuse – a free monthly doorstep collection service encourages residents to reuse and recycle old items responsibly, reducing waste in general bins and preventing reusable materials from going to landfill.
The pilot, beginning in January, will initially roll out for three months in four Clúid owned and managed neighbourhoods in Dublin, covering c.800 general needs, age-friendly and cost rental households.
Susan Vickers, Head of Environmental Sustainability at Clúid, explains, “At Clúid, we take a holistic approach to managing our impact, considering areas for improvement across our entire organisation, including supporting residents to live more sustainably. This innovative pilot with Reloop will support residents to ‘Live Green’, helping to reduce consumption and reuse recyclable items, supporting the reduction of the environmental impact stemming from our residents’ use of their homes. The pilot will initially roll out in four Clúid owned and managed neighbourhoods, with the potential to expand the scheme.”
Padraic Kinsella, Founder of Reloop, states, “Reloop empowers residents to cut consumption by offering free access to items they only need occasionally and by delivering on-site services that keep clothing and electronics in circulation — all while supporting local charities. Our services can have a significant impact towards supporting an organisation like Clúid to reach their climate goals. Since our inception, Reloop has removed 128,960kg CO2 through our comprehensive circular economy programmes.“
