Applications open for 23 Cost Rental homes in Drogheda

Clúid, Ireland’s leading Approved Housing Body (AHB), is opening applications for 79 new Cost Rental homes, including 23 in Tullybrook, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

Applications for 23 new Cost Rental homes in Tullybrook Lane, Drogheda, Co. Louth, open at 9am on Wednesday 14 January.

Interested applicants will be able to apply for one of the 23 brand new, A-rated two- and three-bed apartments and duplexes. Rent for each of the 11 two-bed apartments is €1,292 per calendar month. Rent for each of the 12 three-bed duplexes is €1,508 per calendar month. This represents a saving of at least 25% on the market rent for a similar home in the area. In addition to the low cost to run these brand-new homes, Cost Rental residents will also benefit from secure, life-long tenancies and high-quality, responsive management and maintenance.

Averil Power, Chief Executive Officer, Clúid, commented: “At Clúid we’re well aware of the difficulties facing those trying to find a secure, good value home in the private rental sector. We’re therefore delighted to open applications for these high-quality apartments and duplexes. With rents at least 25% below the market rent, this is a great opportunity for individuals and families to enjoy a secure, long-term tenancy in a brand new, high-quality, mixed-tenure development, close to all the amenities of Drogheda.

“We are expecting high demand for these homes, due to the high quality, excellent location and reduced rents. We’re urging interested applicants to familiarise themselves with the eligibility requirements and to complete their applications on www.cluid.ie as soon as possible. Applicants will need to submit all their documentation online before 5pm on Wednesday 28 January to be included in the lottery.”

The homes are set within the wider Tullybrook community on the outskirts of Drogheda. The homes are a short distance from Drogheda town centre and its range of amenities, including schools, shops and leisure facilities. The M1 Retail Park is just a short walk away. The homes are being developed in a partnership between Clúid and Louth County Council, with support from the Department of Housing, Heritage and Local Government, The Housing Agency and the Housing Finance Agency. The homes were developed by Curo Developments.

In addition to the 23 Cost Rental homes in Tullybrook Lane, Clúid has also opened applications for 56 homes in Oscar Traynor Woods, Coolock, Dublin 5.

Those interested in renting one of these homes can find more information and start the application process on www.cluid.ie.

Visitors to the Clúid website can also register to be notified about upcoming Cost Rental homes in their area. Clúid manages over 900 Cost Rental homes in Dublin, Cork, Kildare, Kilkenny, Meath and Laois and is expecting to deliver even more Cost Rental homes in 2026.

What is Cost Rental Housing?

Cost Rental is a new, secure form of rental housing tenure in Ireland, designed for people whose income means they don’t qualify for social housing or other support, such as HAP, but who still struggle to rent on the open market. All Cost Rental homes have their rents set at a minimum level of 25% below the local market rents. The rents in Cost Rental homes are set to cover the cost of construction, maintenance, and operation of the development, ensuring long-term affordability for residents.

To be eligible to rent one of these new Cost Rental homes, applicants must be able to prove:

  • Their net household income is below €59,000 (€66,000 for homes in Dublin) per year
  • They are not receiving any social housing supports, such as HAP or Rent Supplement
  • They can afford the rent
  • They don’t own a property
  • The household is the correct size for the home
  • All members of the household are resident in Ireland at the time of application
