Clúid Housing hands over keys to its 7,000th home
Clúid Housing, the country’s largest approved housing body, has today handed over the keys to its 7,000th home in Ireland.
The house is in the Friary Walk scheme in County Kilkenny. The scheme sees the delivery of 16 high-quality homes in the Callan area. The three-bedroom homes are a mix of terraced and semi-detached units.
Speaking at the handover to Kilkenny man Kieran Phelan, Clúid’s New Business Director Fiona Cormican said that the milestone showed Clúid’s sustained growth over the last number of years.
“As an approved housing body, we have a number of objectives and delivering high-quality new homes is top of that list. The handing over of this, our 7,000th home, shows that we are continuing to deliver.
“It is fitting that this milestone would come in this, our 25th year, and it demonstrates the work that has been undertaken by Clúid staff, local authorities and other key stakeholders, including councils like Kilkenny, in the delivery of housing.
“It further shows that Clúid’s mission of building not just homes, but thriving communities is worthwhile and deliverable.
“Clúid will continue to work towards an Ireland where everyone has a great place to live.”
Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy praised Clúid on its achievement.
“I want to congratulate Clúid Housing on their milestone of taking in charge their 7,000th home. Under Rebuilding Ireland we are working with and funding Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) to provide housing for families/individuals on the social housing waiting lists.
“This year we will spend some €1.4 billion under the capital programme and Local Authorities with AHBs will add some 10,000 homes to the active social housing stock by building, acquiring and leasing.
“Clúid is making a valuable contribution to the supply of social housing and I wish them well in their future projects.”
Kieran Phelan said that he was delighted to have received the keys to his new home.
“The standard of the home is incredible and myself and my wife are thrilled to have the keys to our new home here in Callan.”
