Homes for 20 families in Galway as Clúid closes on An Móinéar development in Renmore

Clúid Housing, the country’s largest housing body (AHB), has today closed on a development of 20 homes at An Móinéar, Murrough in Renmore, Galway.

The scheme, which comprises of eight four-bed, ten three-beds and two two-bedroom homes, has a construction value of €6.4 million.

Clúid Housing’s New Business Manager Antoinette Hayden said:

“The scheme at Murrough will deliver high-quality homes to families and people on Galway City Council’s housing list.

“These units have been finished to the highest standards and will give people a place they can call home.

“We at Clúid are delighted to be working with Galway City Council and all other stakeholders in the delivery of these homes and will continue to work with local authorities, developers and other stakeholders to continue to deliver housing stock.”

Clúid has financed the construction of these units through a combination of a Capital Advance and Availability Payment from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and a loan facility with the Housing Finance Agency (HFA).

The rent on the units will be based on Galway City Council’s rent policy and the council will retain full nomination rights on the properties.

Dermot Mahon, Acting Director of Services of Galway City Council said:

“We are pleased to be working on this scheme with Clúid Housing who will manage these units, helping the Council deliver homes in the city.

“We are confident that Clúid will provide high-quality homes for life to tenants.”

Clúid Housing is the largest approved housing body in Ireland, delivering over 6,700 high quality, affordable homes to people in housing need all over Ireland. AHBs are independent, not-for-profit charities. Clúid hopes to deliver a further 2,500 new homes over a three-year period and is keen to partner with local authorities, developers, state agencies and financial institutions to make this happen.
