Clúid’s 30th anniversary celebrations

18th Dec, 2025

Clúid was established in 1994, and we delivered our first homes the following year, in 1995. This year, 2025, marks the 30th anniversary of our first residents getting their keys and moving into their forever homes. We marked this milestone by looking forward to the future – by planting trees for current and future residents to enjoy.

Earlier in the year, residents, Clúid colleagues and local partners came together to plant a Pocket Forest in Radharc an tSaile, Kinsale, Co. Cork, and to celebrate the planting of individual native Irish oak trees in Radhairc Bhinn Ghaire, Letterfrack, Co. Galway, and Nephin Drive, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo. The three events were a great success, celebrating not only Clúid, but the communities our residents had created.

We closed out our anniversary celebrations in December with two events. The residents in three neighbouring Longford Town schemes, Lana Aoibhinn, Annaley Gardens and St Michael’s Road, came together to celebrate the planting of a cluster of native hazel trees and the creation of a community library. A very special guest arrived on his sleigh to join the celebrations!

The residents of Orchard Close, Kilkenny, planted their own pocket forest, including some fruit trees to complement their scheme name. The residents already proved their gardening credentials during the soil preparation workshop, when they worked through a mix of weather to provide a biodiverse base for their new forest.

While our 30th celebrations are ending here, our tree planting is not. We intend to continue to plant trees and pocket forests in schemes across the country. Another pocket forest is already in the planning stage in Cork. If you’re interested in having some new trees in your scheme, please get in touch with your Resident Housing Officer.
