Empowering Communities to Reduce, Reuse & Embrace Circular Living

“The cleaning equipment was fantastic to use. Saved me money and did a great job on carpets and couch.” – Feedback from a resident involved in the Parkside Pilot.
At the start of the year, Clúid partnered with Reloop to help residents save money by reducing consumption and waste by offering free lending and recycling services.
The pilot was rolled out in four Clúid owned and managed neighbourhoods in Dublin, covering c.800 general needs, age-friendly and cost rental households.
Reloop offered residents access to a digital booking platform that offers:
• A Lending Library – providing residents with free access to high-quality household products they may only need occasionally, for example, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, and power washers. The concept is based on a shift from product ownership to product access, reducing unnecessary purchases while supporting affordability and enabling more sustainable living.
• E-Waste and Clothing & Textile Reuse – a free monthly doorstep collection service to reuse and recycle old items responsibly, reducing waste in general bins, preventing reusable materials from going to landfill, and making technology more accessible.
By promoting borrowing over buying, the initiative aims to reduce overall household consumption, save money, and cut down on waste in residential properties
“The clothing collection service is so handy for people who don’t drive and don’t have to go to charity shops or donation bins. It’s a great initiative.” – Feedback from a resident involved in the Parkside Pilot.
The results* from the three-month pilot programme are encouraging. We are seeing active resident engagement with the service resulting in demand and waste reduction, leading to the desired outcome of carbon savings.
| Service Pillar | Activity Volume | Total Carbon Saved (kg CO2e) |
| Clothes Donations | 136 Bags (680 kg) | 2,720.0 kg |
| Electrical reuse and recycling | 13 Units (39 kg) | 46.8 kg |
| Library of Things Rentals | 16 Products Borrowed | 120.0 kg |
| GRAND TOTAL | 2,886.8 kg |
Clúid is delighted to continue with the service, which has been expanded to include Airton Plaza, a large neighbourhood of over 200 homes and nearly 500 residents.
