Local and European elections

The next local and European elections are taking place on the 7th of June. All residents, not just citizens, are eligible to vote in local elections in June 2024. By taking advantage of your opportunity to vote you are helping to shape both the political decision of your local community as well as the European one.
- There are several reasons to use your vote, such as;
- It gives you a say on important issues that affect you – from roads and recycling, to education and climate change, to housing and employment.
- It gives you the choice to vote for your local and European representatives, if you don’t vote, other people get to choose who represents you.
- If you don’t vote, others will make the decisions for you.
If you are not sure if you are registered to vote, you can check if you are registered and register by visiting www.checktheregister.ie All you will need is your PPS number and your Eircode. You can also change your address, or pre-register to vote if you are aged 16 or 17.
