Waterford Anti-Racism Month

Building on the success of the inaugural Waterford Anti-Racism Month in March 2023, Waterford Integration Services, Waterford City & County Council and Waterford Libraries continue their commitment to combating racism and fostering inclusivity across Waterford City, County and the wider South-East region. In 2024, the initiative continues to grow and expand with a dedicated series of events and activities aimed at celebrating anti-racism.

Key Events:

6th of March Evening: Screening of Gaza at Garter Lane, a film by Andrew Keane and Andrew McConnell, tickets free but donations welcome, fundraising event for Palestinian Red Crescent society. Tickets: garterlane.ie/events/gaza

Throughout the month:
Mincéirí Port Láirge will present their family tree art work in Waterford Cultural Quarter Place
Waterford City & County Libraries will create book displays for Waterford Anti-Racism Month
The Book Centre will create a window display during the week of the 25th of March
• Primary School students throughout the city and county will be asked to create a piece of visual art based on the theme ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ for a county-wide competition
• Secondary School students, similarly, will be asked to write a poem based on the same theme, with both schools competitions having an awards ceremony in September.
