Emmanuel’s story
A safe and secure family home to make memories
Nothando, Emmanuel, and family touring their new home for the first time. Nothando and her daughter smile when they see their back garden with room for the trampoline, which they have been looking forward to setting up when they move in.

This home means a lot to us because the kids get to have their own bedrooms. We’re currently living in a two-bedroom and it’s a flat. Now they get to have a garden and a trampoline and have all the toys they need and their own personal space as well. It’s really great!

How we bring about change
Collaboration is key for the team at Clúid. We know that without the strong working relationships that exist with our finance partners, across local and national government, with our development partners, and the communities we work with, we would not be the successful organisation that we are today.

Linda’s Story
Sustainable practices for a greener future

We set up a Residents Group of eight members called the Ballygraigue Residents Group. Our Housing Officer Sue Rowley got in touch with Trees on the Land and the Silver Arch Family Resource Centre to ask if they’d like to collaborate on the project – we were delighted they came on board to help.

There are 11 children on the estate that have additional needs. A sensory garden provides a space that everyone can enjoy, while an orchard, edible hedge, and raised herb beds offer fresh produce and will look great. Trees on the Land, an all-island charity, donated 50 trees and helped plant the orchard.
How we’re run
Clúid’s funding model to support the delivery of new homes consists of a variety of debt loans and grants. The funding mix for these assets is shown in the diagram below. The majority of our funding continues to be government-backed from the Housing Finance Agency (HFA) loan.

Joan’s Story
Age-friendly homes that enable residents to remain living independently in their own community

Joan lives in Willowview, an age-friendly scheme managed by Clann, a division of Clúid. Joan tells us,
This is my dream home. It’s great. I feel very safe and I have the most beautiful balcony overlooking the river. I have lots of planters and containers – it’s such a beautiful place to sit and relax. Our scheme manager is a great help too. Everyone loves him, he is excellent.
