The great majority of dwellings Clúid owns were built and constructed either through traditional procurement (where Clúid is responsible for the design of the building works and then tenders out the construction), or on a design and build basis (where one contractor is responsible for design and construction). Our standards in design
In 2016 Clúid published its Design Guide which aims to establish a framework that will increase awareness and understanding of excellent design within residential developments. The guide establishes a set of agreed standards to be achieved by those involved in housing provision for Clúid. This will ensure the delivery of quality housing developments and the creation of homes rather than houses. Clúid aims to be widely recognised as an organisation that creates residential environments that are visually attractive, safe, convenient, secure, economical to build, occupy and maintain.
Clúid has worked in close partnership with some of Ireland’s leading property developers in the fulfilment of their social housing obligations under Part V of the Planning and Development Act 2000.
As a consequence of establishing a large body of expertise in the operation of Part V, Clúid is able to assist developers to ensure that the process, including negotiation of agreements with local authorities, will take place speedily and efficiently. It is likely that as house building takes off again, that Part V will play a central role in the delivery of social housing and Clúid is very keen to play a full part in this.
